Overview
About this system
The 360 SMART Catalytic Carbon Filter is a whole-home filter built for city water. It reduces chlorine, chloramine, taste, and odor using catalytic granular activated carbon, the media best suited to chloramine, and it runs automatically on a self-cleaning backwash valve. Add the optional DROP smart valve to monitor and control the system right from your phone.
How it works
Catalytic carbon, working around the clock
Water passes through a deep bed of catalytic granular activated carbon that reduces chlorine, chloramine, and a wide range of volatile organic compounds. The valve backwashes the bed on its own schedule to keep the media clean, and the optional DROP smart valve puts flow and controls on your phone.
Catalytic carbon media
Catalytic granular activated carbon reduces chlorine, chloramine, and many common chemicals. It is the media of choice where the city uses chloramine.
Self-cleaning backwash
The valve backwashes the media bed on its own schedule, so the carbon stays clean and working with no cartridges to change.
Optional DROP smart valve
On DROP-enabled builds, check flow and control the system right from your phone.
Long-life media
The catalytic carbon typically lasts five years or more before it is due for replacement.
Why homeowners choose it
Cleaner water at every fixture
Better taste and smell
Reduces the chlorine and chloramine that many homeowners notice at levels as low as 0.5 PPM.
More comfortable showers
Treats water for the whole home, so showers and baths feel fresher with less chlorine smell.
Hands-off upkeep
Automatic operation and cartridge-free media keep day-to-day upkeep to a minimum.
Backed in writing

More reasons to choose 360 Water Systems
The right media for chloramine
Catalytic carbon is one of the most effective ways to reduce chlorine and chloramine from a municipal supply.
Sized to your home
Choose 5, 10, or 15 GPM so the filter matches your household demand and plumbing.
Automatic and cartridge-free
The valve cleans the media bed on its own, so there is nothing to swap out between media changes.

Sizing
Which flow rate is right for you?
For a whole-house filter, flow rate (GPM) is the peak service flow the media bed can treat while holding full pressure to every tap. A larger tank holds more media, treats more water at once, and backwashes less often. Match it to your home's size and busiest moments.
- 5 GPM. A compact tank for smaller homes with 1 bathroom and 1 to 2 people. Treats a tap or two at a time.
- 10 GPM. The typical single-family size, for 2 to 3 bathrooms and 2 to 4 people. Holds full pressure across normal household use.
- 15 GPM. For 3 to 4 bathrooms and 4 to 5 people, or homes with higher simultaneous demand. More media means longer runs between backwashes.
Not sure? A shower uses about 2.5 GPM and a washing machine 3 to 5 GPM, so add up the fixtures that might run together at your peak. When between sizes, size up for steadier pressure and longer media life. Tell us your number of bathrooms and we will size it right.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
What should I tell my builder to plan for?
A backwashing carbon filter is easy to accommodate when you plan for four things: a plumbing loop for the inlet and outlet, a drain for the backwash cycle, a nearby electrical outlet, and a bit of floor space.
Will this remove ammonia from my water?
Catalytic carbon is very effective at reducing chloramine, which forms when ammonia is combined with chlorine to treat drinking water, and it targets chlorine, chloramine, pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals. Free ammonia on its own is different. Depending on its concentration and your water conditions, catalytic carbon may not remove all of it. If ammonia is your main concern, a dedicated ammonia-removal media or a reverse osmosis system is the better fit. The best first step is a detailed water test so we can recommend the right combination.
