Which flow rate is right for you?
Flow rate (GPM, gallons per minute) sets two things at once: the peak water demand this all-in-one system can supply without a pressure drop, and its softening grain capacity between regenerations. Match it to your home's size and busiest moments.
- 10 GPM, about 35,000 grain capacity. Sized for smaller homes with 1 to 2 bathrooms and roughly 1 to 3 people. Comfortably runs a shower and a sink at the same time.
- 15 GPM, about 53,000 grain capacity. Our most popular size, for 3 to 4 bathrooms and about 3 to 5 people. Handles two showers plus another fixture running together.
- 20 GPM, about 70,000 grain capacity. For larger homes with 4 or more bathrooms and 5 or more people, or heavy simultaneous use. Holds full pressure even with several showers and appliances running at once.
Not sure? A shower uses about 2.5 GPM and a kitchen faucet about 2.2 GPM, so count the fixtures that might run at once. When between sizes, size up: a larger system regenerates less often and lasts longer. A quick hardness test and your number of bathrooms is all we need to size it right.

In place of a separate carbon filter and softener, it stacks two media beds in one tank, so you get soft, filtered, chlorine-reduced water at every tap with a smaller footprint and less to maintain.

Inside the Tank
The professional-grade Vortech tank holds two media beds, stacked so city water is treated in the right order.
- Top half, catalytic carbon (black media). A proprietary coconut-shell catalytic carbon blend that reduces chlorine, chloramine, chemicals, pesticides, VOCs, tastes, and odors. It also protects the resin below, since chlorine breaks down softening resin over time. City water enters here first.
- Bottom half, softening resin (golden-brown media). Highest-grade, long-life 10% crosslinked resin that removes hardness minerals through ion exchange. Softened, filtered water then exits to the home.

How It Works
- Water enters the carbon bed. City water flows into the top half of the Vortech tank, where catalytic carbon reduces chlorine, chloramine, chemicals, pesticides, VOCs, tastes, and odors.
- Water passes through the resin bed. The bottom half holds 10% crosslinked softening resin, which removes hardness minerals through ion exchange.
- The smart valve regenerates only when needed. The metered valve tracks actual water use and regenerates on demand, saving salt and cutting wastewater.
- Homeowner-friendly installation. Pour the media with the included funnel, connect standard fittings, and pair the Bluetooth app. Specialists walk you through setup by phone.

10-Year Warranty
The tanks and resin are covered by a 10-year limited warranty, and the valve and electronics are covered by a 10-year limited warranty, against defects in material and workmanship under normal residential use. Coverage is administered directly by 360 Water Systems.

Frequently asked questions
Does it include a bypass valve?
Yes. The system includes a built-in bypass valve for easy service and maintenance.
How much media does it ship with, and what if I received extra?
The 250 configuration ships with 0.5 cubic feet of each carbon type, for 1 cubic foot total. If you received a full cubic foot of each, measure out 0.5 cubic feet of each, mix them, and load 1 cubic foot total into the tank. Store the extra carbon for a future media change, typically every 3 to 5 years.
How much wastewater does a regeneration produce, and can my floor drain or sump handle it?
Use the Drain and Regeneration chart on this page. Add the three cycle volumes: backwash minutes times backwash GPM, brine draw minutes times brine draw GPM, and fast rinse minutes times fast rinse GPM. That total is the gallons discharged per regeneration. For sizing a sump or floor drain, the peak GPM in the chart is the number that matters, since that is the highest flow during backwash or fast rinse.
Can it be installed outdoors?
Yes, as long as it is protected from sun, rain, and freezing temperatures. We do not offer a dedicated valve cover, but a small utility shed or enclosure works well. Our support team can help with troubleshooting or repairs.
When does the carbon need to be replaced, and how hard is it?
Plan on a carbon change every 3 to 5 years depending on usage. Most homeowners, or a local handyman, can handle it, and our tech support team can walk you through the steps.
With the tank split into two beds, is the resin still effective? Is there a tradeoff?
There is a small tradeoff. The resin bed is smaller than a dedicated full-resin softener. For most homes the hybrid design is still highly effective, especially when space, simplicity, and chlorine removal matter. For very high usage or challenging water, separate units can offer more total capacity. Our team will help you decide based on your water and household size.
How is carbon life measured, in gallons?
Carbon life is hard to state in gallons because chlorine levels vary from home to home. Under typical municipal water, plan on replacement every 3 to 5 years.
Is it okay for well water?
The system is engineered for municipal water. For a well, our team will confirm the right GPM model and any pre-treatment you may need first. As a reference point, a hardness of 189.5 mg/L converts to about 11 grains per gallon, which is within the operating range.
