Will a softener remove my iron?

A softener handles small amounts of dissolved iron, but staining-level iron needs a dedicated iron filter ahead of the softener.

Why do I need a water test first?

Iron type, concentration, and pH change which media and size actually work. The test prevents an under-sized system that keeps staining, and it tells us whether you need the pH neutralizer first.
